The sisters Quentin and Jemima Jones hosted a dinner in London with their friends to celebrate the holidays. And this what happened.
The word community has lots of meanings and ways of manifesting itself. Friendship, acceptance, connection, honesty, belonging. Togetherness. Each one is represented by the guests (and very close friends) at this memorable occasion in where it is impossible to choose just one moment to remember. The food and the drinks are ready! Want to know the menu?
“We are preparing a fun interactive menu for tonight. We love spaghetti, so we wanted something that feels fun and people can twirl their spaghetti up. We have delicious pumpkin to start, with burrata and roasted hazelnuts, nice when plated up. And then, a delicious chocolate pavlova for dessert." - Jemima Jones
“New Year to me is being at home around the fire. I like staying in and having, you know, like a smaller group of people around and getting to know people more one-on-one." - Hikari Yokoyama
“Dinner is how you have fun, right? It´s how you come together. The cooking process and the getting ready for the dinner is just as much of the party as the actual dinner itself.” - Quentin Jones
All of them have known each other a long time because life decided it would be way, among exotic countries, weird situations, weddings, poems and taxis. This evening, around the main table, they share memories together, make future plans and (of course) promise to repeat a celebration like this next year.
“I think that people aren´t meant to be alone, so it´s what helps us when things are difficult. You need a community to help you celebrate. You don´t really celebrate on your own.” - Waris Ahluwalia
“I enjoy my winter holidays taking nice walks, going out, seeing all my friends, catching up with people I haven’t seen... But also, coming home to a nice warm fire with the family.” - Kit Butler
“During the winter I wear a lot of high boots, and still try to show a bit of leg. I always try to be a little bit sexy. Also jumpsuits and... I focus on the makeup! (chuckles).” - Sofía Sánchez de Betak (Chufy)
The Champagne is in the glasses, the glitter is on the floor (as well as on their dresses), and the music is in the air. All in place.
“I’m the one sort of awkwardly telling all the stories we said we wouldn’t say before people arrive. (Greta and Robert laugh). And I let all the secrets out of the bag as soon as everyone comes through the door.” - Greta Bellamacina
“I really love dinner parties. I´d much rather have or go to a nice dinner than almost any other social occasion. It really is the most fun. And you can have, you know, serious conversations at the beginning and very silly conversations at the end.” - Robert Montgomery
And suddenly, among laughs about crazy jokes, drinks specially prepared for the occasion and camera flashes, they notice that being with the people you genuinely choose to spend time with is enriching and comforting.
